Youth in Action had a busy fall!
Youth in Action (YIA) is off to a great start in our 2018-2019 season…and now we are already in the beginning of winter! As usual, we are full of energy, our meetings are full of fun, and we are focusing our projects on charitable works and social justice.
We made a HUGE card for Mrs. Joyce Boag-Leyrer, letting her know that we miss her and want her to get well. Then we made rosaries from large wooden beads. The beads are bright colors, just perfect for younger children. We are sharing them with Chantelle SanJuan’s PREP Level I class and hope they enjoy learning about this special devotion. We topped off 2018 by making magnet ornaments for our home bound parishioners. The magnets will be distributed with the poinsettia plants that are given to our home bound at Christmastime.
We have wonderful plans for 2019 too. We look forward to collecting and assembling toiletries for Valley Youth House. The parish has always responded very generously to this collection. We’ll make meals for Aid for Friends…. that’s always our personal favorite! And, finally, we’ll do our special meeting focused on charity and social justice. It’s called
2 Feet of Love in Action and it defines who we are! YIA is open to all 7th and 8th graders from any school. We play games, have fun, and do good works. Our project work is eligible for school credit too. Come join us, and bring a friend!
