Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time for everything, and for “a time” ABVM mourned the departure of the IHM Sisters, with the empty convent a sad reminder of what had been lost. However, on Saturday, June 30th, a new season was evident as the convent overflowed with joy. Despite the heat, music, laughter, and love filled the air as sponsors of orphans at the Sun of Hope were treated to lunch by the Holy Spirit Sisters.
The many attendees were welcomed, thanked, and serenaded by Sister Catherine; former Provincial Superior Sister Inviolata Kessy, and the newly installed Provincial Superior Sister Dorthea Massawe; as well as the Holy Spirit Sisters residing in our convent and those visiting from Key West, FL. However, even sweeter than the culinary treats were the children in Tanzania with whom sponsors were able to communicate via Facetime.
It was a day to celebrate abundant blessings and to remember that while we are separated by language, customs, and thousands of miles, we are all joined together through God’s love.
