The Christmas Gift Campaign is a Huge Success!

A big THANK YOU to all of our parishioners and friends that helped to make the Christmas Gift Fund a huge success. The fund, which ran the entire month of October, raised over $7,300.00!  Once again, the generosity of our Assumption family will provide a very special Christmas for all of the children at Sun of Hope.  In addition to the usual gifts of toys, sporting equipment, books, etc., it was suggested to Sun of Hope that because the monies raised were such a tremendous amount that they use some of the donations to purchase livestock that will provide ongoing nourishment for the children.  The Holy Spirit Sisters loved this idea and they will be purchasing two cows so that the children have milk to drink on a daily basis!  This is truly a wonderful gift from all of you and will ensure that the children are provided with the nourishment they need to grow up healthy and strong!  Thank you again!

Below is Sr. Dorothea’s letter of thanks to all of you:

Please look for follow-up information on the 2018 Christmas Gift Fund in our next newsletter in the spring.  Also, because of your generosity during the 2017 Christmas Gift Fund campaign, we were able to buy additional gifts this past summer.  We purchased ten Kindle Fires–Kids Edition for the children at Sun of Hope and they were received just this past October.  The children will begin using the Kindles to assist with their studies.  In addition, polo shirts were purchased and embroidered with ‘Sun of Hope’ and will be the children’s new uniforms!  A special thanks to Sue Joseph who donated her time and talent in making these polo shirts beautiful!  With the remaining funds from the 2017 campaign, the Sisters asked if they could use the funds to buy much needed food for the children.  This goes to affirm what Sr. Inviolata stated in a previous thank you letter that “so often the parishioners of Assumption are providing the children their daily bread.”
