Matt Diehl has been part of Assumption since he was born. Matt attended the parish’s grade school and when he was in the fifth grade, decided to learn the organ. With Peg Kane as his mentor, he successfully learned the organ and became the church organist that he is today.

Born in 1987, Matt was baptized at Assumption in 1988. He was enrolled at Assumption BVM School from Kindergarten to eighth grade. While in school, Matt was active–he fondly remembers his years as an altar server. During his high school years, which were spent at Holy Ghost Prep, Matt remained active with the parish. He was a member of the Teen CYO and served as its president during his senior year. All throughout his school years, Matt frequently played the organ for weddings and funerals, as well as the weekend masses.

After graduating from high school, Matt attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2012. After college, Matt moved to Baltimore to accept a job as Pharmacy Manager at CVS. In 2014, Matt decided to make a change–he moved to Johns Hopkins Outpatient pharmacy, where he is currently the Pharmacy Operations Coordinator for one of their outpatient pharmacies.

Matt’s connection to our parish remains strong; his family still belongs to Assumption BVM. His mother, Kathy, has been a member since the early 1980s. His brother, Brian, along with his family, wife Jaime and their two sons Joey and Justin, are also members. When asked about his recollections of Assumption, Matt said, “I spent much of my life at ABVM and enjoy visiting whenever I get the opportunity. I will always remember ABVM as a special part of my life.”
