The Prayer Garden is Becoming Reality!

Garden Statue Picture Fall 2016Shortly after Father Bill’s death, a number of our parishioners inquired about the possibility of having some type of permanent memorial in his honor. Hoping to come up with an idea that the entire parish could get behind and support, our parish staff put a request for ideas in our church bulletin. A prevailing theme among many of the ideas that were received was the creation of a prayer/memorial garden. With that idea in mind, our Knights of Columbus Council was approached and asked to provide leadership for the project. The Knights suggested that instead of honoring solely Father Bill that we honor all the priests who have served, are currently serving, and who will serve the people of our parish in the future. Jesus, the Good Shepherd will be the focal point of the memorial.

Chris Moser of the Knights volunteered to design and help manage the project. In addition to Chris, there have been many parishioners who have volunteered their time, talent and resources to move the project from a concept to a reality. Steve Castle and the good people from Castle Garden Center as well as Mike Connelly, Bob Brooks, Jack James, Deacon Bob and many of our Knights of Columbus, have worked hard to create the beautiful site that is taking shape next to our church on the main level.

This project is being funded by direct donations and your help will be appreciated. If you would like to contribute to the Prayer Garden Fund, make your check payable to Assumption BVM Church and enclose it in an envelope noting the Prayer Garden collection. You can place it in the collection basket at Mass or mail it to the Rectory to the attention of Father Mike. Thank you!
