The quarterly newsletter for Assumption BVM Church

Meet Linda Vogel…

Paperwork, parishioners, priests, problems and questions. The person at ABVM who now gets to mind those “p’s and q’s”—and much more–is Office Manager, Linda Vogel.

The Office Manager position itself was created in 2018 in response to the increasing activities and duties within Assumption BVM. Linda, who was born, raised, and still resides in the parish, was hired to fill it in May of that year. Her previous work experience (Loan Service Manager, Production Planner, Operations Manager/Investigator, and Administrative Assistant) provided her with a variety of skills that are useful as she is responsible for the front office administration for the parish. Bookkeeping, payroll, scheduling room usage and rentals, Safe Environment Coordinator, ministry scheduling, answering phones, backing up other staff, and dealing with unexpected visitors, a curious cat, 21st Century technology and “situations”—like an extended power outage—are some of the things that have keep Linda busier than she imagined during her first year on the job. Because she is “juggling” so many tasks in such a dynamic environment, the most efficient way to reach her with questions is via email: lindav.abvm@gmail.com, Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

When asked what else she would like people to know, she replied “Be patient with me. I’m learning something new every day.” However, knowing what a whirlwind of activity the rectory is and how people are calling and ringing the doorbell all day long with questions and concerns—or wanting to interview her for this article, perhaps it is more appropriate to ask her to be patient with the rest of us.

In addition to working as a parish employee, Linda has volunteered as an assistant in PREP 1st level for over 15 years. When Linda isn’t working, she loves going to Disney World. While there in November 2018 she got engaged in front of Pooh and her favorite, Tigger.

Her parish family wishes her well with her future spouse and with helping Assumption BVM continue to grow as a vibrant faith community.
