The Helping Hands group is made up of wonderful people that have come together for one reason– to help those individuals that just need a little “helping hand.” All have gone above and beyond that call. They are all unsung heroes, helping when needed, with little to no fanfare. The majority of Assumption parishioners don’t even realize the group exists. Until recently, most of them didn’t even know each other–they were friendly strangers that conversed via email. Each of them helping each other out when needed–all of them treating each other like they were old friends. All that changed when most of the members of the group finally met one another at an “appreciation” breakfast, as seen in the picture to the left.
In this program at Assumption BVM, parishioners in need are matched up with parishioners that are able to help them. We want to help you accomplish tasks that you may no longer be able to do yourself. Here are some examples of the type of help we are offer:
- Take newspaper recycle to collection bins
- Pick up prescriptions at local pharmacies
- Light grocery shopping
- Any small job you are unable to do anymore!
…and, for those parishioners that would like to help those in need of our services, please consider becoming a Helping Hand!
