On Sunday, September 10th, Bishop John J. McIntyre came to Assumption BVM to confirm eight members of the Indian Latin Catholic Community.
He and the Mass concelebrants–Father Shaji Silva, Father Mike Davis and Monsignor Thomas Flanigan of Corpus Christi Parish in Lansdale (where Father Shaji is Parochial Vicar)-were greeted at the rectory with a ceremonial reception and escorted to the prayer garden, where the candidates for Confirmation were waiting. After the Bishop was “garlanded,” a procession, including the Knights of Columbus, entered the church to celebrate the reception of the Sacrament.
After the service, attendees enjoyed food and entertainment, including cultural dancing, in the church hall. In addition to the families and friends, a large number of Assumption parishioners joined this first Confirmation as a “community.” From beginning to end, the day was a joyous and colorful celebration–both Spirit-filled and spirited. May God continue to pour out his blessings on these youngsters as they take the next steps on their faith journeys!
