Assumption cheerleaders end their fall season in a big way!

Assumption’s CYO Vikings Cheerleading Squad held their end of season ‘Cheer Show and Awards Ceremony’ on Saturday, October 21st.  The group is comprised of 16 cheerleaders, 3 assistant coaches and is led by Coach Susan Kelly.  The in-house program kicked off in August 2017.  The cheerleaders in the group span from first timers to five year veterans and range from the ages of 4-11 years old.  They are also excited and are looking forward to offering cheerleading for basketball games in 2018!

The program included cheers, dance routines, tumbling and pyramid stunts all choreographed by Senior Assistant Coaches Siobhan, Sara, and Camryn.  They also received help and support from many members of the parish.   Coach Susan was delighted to have volunteer assistant coaches by her side this season.   “The girls showed a real commitment and team leadership qualities throughout the cheer season.”  Coach Susan also noted that she was impressed with their knowledge, unwavering team spirit and reliability!

During the ceremony the cheerleaders took advantage of the opportunity to surprise and honor retired Coach Deb Tumpak for her 21 seasons of volunteer service to the Assumption Vikings Football Cheerleading Program.  Deb has greatly enriched the lives of so many of our youth throughout her two-plus decades as coach and mentor to the girls in the parish.  Deb serves not only as a positive influence and role model for the CYO program, but she is also an active member of our parish. We truly appreciate her time, talent and dedication to the CYO Program and the broader parish community.
